Cristino Díez

Bodegas Hnos. Pérez Pascuas and Cristino share the same passion and pursuit of excellence, building their legacy over time. Just as the artist has taken his work around the world, the winery has captivated the most discerning palates with its wines, imbued with the soul of the Burgos land.

Cuadro Etiqueta Edición limitada 45 aniversario. Viña Pedrosa Gran Reserva 2019. Obra: Cristino Díez

Artistic work created to commemorate the 45th Anniversary of Bodegas Hnos. Pérez Pascuas, by the Burgos-born artist Cristino Díez.

This artwork was created to commemorate the 45th Anniversary of Bodegas Hnos. Pérez Pascuas, by Burgos-born artist Cristino Díez.

The creation of this commemorative piece by Cristino is more than just a tribute—it’s a statement of principles. His art, deeply rooted in the identity of Burgos, reflects a deep respect for history and evolution—values that also guide the winery in its journey.

Atapuerca symbolizes permanence and memory, just like the winery and Cristino’s work, which have both left a lasting mark on the region’s history.

The texts that accompany Cristino’s painting are fragments of poems by Miguel Hernández, chosen because both share a deep connection to the land and tradition. Hernández’s poetry, rich in emotion and reverence for heritage, perfectly complements the message of the winery—fusing art and literature to enrich this anniversary celebration.

THE GRAPE
It will warm like a red solstice
the bone of my forehead,
and I’ll be with its weight, without my judgment, not the me of every day, but another, better and different madman.

THE LEAF
A rainfall of warmth, a roof of vines, a pine’s shade,
activity of wasps and cicadas on the fine vine shoot, a string of bubbles and the wine’s support.

THE VINE
Episcopal dwelling, the humble vine,
under the rising light, the harvest takes its stance,
displaying at every moment
clusters in a state of expectancy.

THE EARTH
Once danced, the vine coils and soaks
succession of rings with hoops,
bellies milked by hands into clear buckets by a simple loosened sex.
And inner red uncertainty,
a dimmed translation of the beacons
with serpentine interpretations,
misplacing feet, consulting corners.

ATAPUERCA AND WINE

The Sanctuary of Silex is a sacred space that contains geometric symbols, schematic human and animal figures. The cave, the poet, and the winery share a kind of “trench wisdom”—an intense experience shaped by suffering, resilience, and a sense of community.

This alliance between art and wine is a testament to identity and pride. Cristino has not forgotten his roots, just as Bodegas Hnos. Pérez Pascuas remains deeply tied to its own. Together, they have created a tangible tribute to what it means to belong—to a place where past and future speak through every sip, every brushstroke, every stone that withstands the test of time.

The 45th anniversary of the winery, under the theme “The Legacy of a Lifetime”, is not just a celebration—it’s a reaffirmation that love for the land and pride in well-done work are the pillars of true greatness.

2019 Vintage

Rated “Excellent” by the Ribera del Duero Regulatory Council.

A year marked by extreme, dry weather with little rainfall and high temperatures. Despite spring frosts, the vines remained resilient. September rains were crucial for a slow, complete ripening process, resulting in a vintage of great balance, freshness, and rich fruit character.

Tasting notes

  • Deep garnet red with a high layer and ruby highlights.
  • On the nose, it’s powerful, elegant, and complex, with aromas of ripe black fruit and fruit preserves, cassis, balsamic and spicy notes—subtle hints of cumin, mineral undertones, and a delicate touch of truffle.
  • On the palate, it is broad, smooth, and enveloping, with excellent structure. Silky, noble tannins bring roundness and balance, leading to a long, persistent, and velvety finish that invites you to savor each sip slowly.
