TRUE VISIONARIES WHO PAVED THE WAY FOR  A UNIQUE REGION IN THE WORLD.

D.O.Ribera del Duero 40th Anniversay symbolises the wonderful combination of vineyards and wineries full of history, hard and well done work and revolutionary ideas which have changed the grapegrowing and winemaking in Spain. The most conservative project, the most commercial, the most innovative… All of them  make possible a great supply of top quality wines and a broad range of styles.

Ecofriendly grapegrowing and local grape varieties was the strategy of Bodegas Hnos. Pérez Pascuas to build a premium brand an open the path for local farmers in a crucial moment for the development of the región. Viña Pedrosa was a real inspiration for many people. Creative and persevering Pérez Pascuas brothers  worked hard for the region’s development and  their county turned into the base for many family projects.  During those years, late 70s and early 80s, of D.O. Ribera del Duero Regulatory Council formation , the Pérez Pascuas family imprint was so strong that the natural consequence of its legacy was the pushfullness of the  the innovative will in the region.

Since El Fuero de Sepúlveda in 1143 and Las Ordenanzas de Vendimia of 1925 granted by Dña. Violante to the grapegrowers from La Comunidad de Villa y Tierra de Roa, this county was never  supported by such a positive and useful rules  than the ones created by the Regulatory Council of D.O. Ribera del Duero. It was the origin of a framework that benefited the whole region and whose positive influence reaches nowadays.

Together with Viña Pedrosa, founding winery of D.O. Ribera del Duero, ten projects more pulled together and changed in a positive way the socioeconomic conditions  in this county. At the start Pérez Pascuas family was questioned and a few years later was acclaimed and turned into a reference brand to follow by grapegrowers and winemakers.

“Completely convinced of the family vineyard huge potential we decided to start up an exciting wine project when many locals pulled out vines and sold vineyards to leave the county and look for a way of living in the city. When we made the decition of founding our own wine cellar in 1980 our goal was to make a premium wine. At that time did not exist D.O. Ribera yet and we placed the name of Ribera Duero in Spain and abroad as synonym of  wine excellence. We always believed that Ribera del Duero is a unique place in the world to grow top quality grapes and make premium wines. We have  been always committed to local economy growth, we want a properous county where many bussines projects can be real and small villages like Pedrosa de Duero can be full of life. As visionaries and pioneers we have help lots of grapegrowers and winemakers  to set their projects. Today we feel very happy and proud of Ribera del Duero. Our effort was worthwhile”, state Manuel and Adolfo Pérez Pascuas.
